|2011 Spring Cleaning|
March 25, 2011
More than 70 volunteers representing more than 20 local companies showed their support of "The House that Love Built" during the third annual Spring Cleaning event held at the Ronald McDonald House of Columbia March 25. In addition, participants and Ronald McDonald House guest families welcomed Congressman Joe Wilson and Representative Chip Huggins, as both returned to the House again this year for the morning welcome and kick-off of the day.
Several projects, large and small, were completed during the event - raking, cleaning windows, dusting, carpet and tile cleaning and repairing electrical problems and plumbing probems. This year's largest project was laying a patio in the back yard so that our guest families have a nice place to relax, enjoy meals and fellowship with other families struggling with similar situations.
This event began in 2009 as part of a goodwill effort form local business owners, Reed Mattingly and Bill Danielson. Since its beginning, projects completed during this event have saved RMHC of Columbia, SC more than $50,000 in renovations and home maintenance.
Thank you to all who participated and donated materials and food to make this event a huge success! We hope to see all of you next year!
